November Monthly Dev Update

In November I published:

  • 0 GameMaker Assets
  • 6 YouTube videos

For the month I received $14.99. Better than last month, but I could have done a lot better! Let’s take a look at the breakdown.

Itch.io

I sold 4 assets for $12.99 over at Itch.

The views are pretty scattered around here. I’m not sure if I have any insight here, as I did nothing to promote any assets or my sites. YouTube continued to drive most of the traffic, followed by organic traffic from my Itch.io page, then a search for “pixel art font”.

Marketplace

I actually had a sale on the GameMaker Marketplace! I’ll take the $2 on a -very- old graphic asset I’ve got on there. I really would love to see more love put into the Marketplace. It makes sense for GameMaker to have one, but it’s been long abandoned and poorly maintained. If we can get some life into it, I’d happily put work back into it.

Twitter

Oof! That’s a lot of red. I didn’t do a lot of posting on Twitter this month. My followers, though it shows -1, is actually up a bit over October because my good pal @xordev presented a call to action to help me get to 1k!

Thanks, Xor! The boost made my month!

YouTube

…I put that I put up 4 videos, which isn’t… untrue. They were just more Pokemon card shorts. Oops.

Views were much less than October, but that’s okay. I hadn’t done the work I needed to see growth in this platform.

December’s Strategy

I haven’t made much progress the last two months. I’ve been incredibly busy and I think that I get excited when writing these reports that I forget what I can or can’t feasibly do. Let’s make our simple goals even simpler:

My goals for December will be:

  • Update the homepage of MashArcade to present a clear story of how you can use this website and find me on all platforms.
  • 3 new YouTube subscribers
  • 3 new Twitter subscribers

Milestone Goals

  • Publish a game
    • 5% complete
  • 1,000 followers on YT
    • ~25% complete
  • 1,000 followers on Twitter
    • ~75% complete
  • $50/month from assets
    • ~40% complete
