Every month I try to talk about what I worked on, what went right, and what went wrong. I’ll also show you how much money I’ve earned. It also gives me a chance to strategize for the next month!
What I Worked On
Assets

I’ve been making so many assets! I’m trying to get a nice library of resources up so speed up tutorial production. I’d like to give the audience access to graphics and code so they can feel empowered to make their own games with them, too. Eliminating the barrier of entry is an important objective! Everyone should be able to have what they need to make their own games.
I started posting on Instagram again, but it’s just as of the last few days. I’ve got lots of cute art now, and I want to show it off! I’m not sure if Instagram is a valid avenue of how developers want content, so I figured art might be a better showcase for Instagram.
We’ll see how it goes.
YouTube
I published 3 shorts and 2 videos.
+12 subscribers.
One video was about a new GameMaker feature that just hit the beta, sprite override, and another video was about how to make your character jump in a top-down perspective!
One of the shorts, called “Makin’ a Water Dookie?!” performed well. I tried something a little more humorous and included both gameplay and a voiceover. It earned a quick 1.5k views, which is rather impressive for my small channel, so I’ll likely lean more into this format to see what happens.
My goal with YouTube long-term is to produce tutorials, highlight GameMaker games, and cover GameMaker news.
I’d also like to get monetized. Here’s the progress with that:

I’m confident I’d be able to reach 1,000 subs by the end of the year on my current momentum, but the 4k watch hours is going to be a challenge. I’ll need to focus on better tutorials to reach it.
Downloads & Sales
Itch.io Summary
- Total Sales: $11
- Most popular item: Top-Down Platformer for GameMaker

Itch isn’t making the impact that I’d like, but I haven’t put much work into it. I produced the Top-Down Adventure Starter Kit, which I was particularly proud of, but it’s not very popular. It’s got a great aesthetic for a popular style, but I think it needs more content for it to be a prominent asset. I still believe in it, though, and will continue to develop it in the future.
What’s Next
- This month I plan on making more tutorials, both on MashArcade and YouTube.
- More asset packs! I’d like to continue on Itch.io, but I wonder…
- Potentially a Patreon for weekly assets?
Community / Feedback
- On YouTube, I asked if people were interested in art-centered, videos, too. I didn’t hear anything negative, and got a nice comment from a viewer, so I might just do that:
